Birds of a Feather

The Cat’s Cradle of the bridge construction sat silent. Rare. Dredge crews moved their equipment from Buxton and made their way North.

A few days respite from the pounding and plumes of smoke signaling their progress made for idyllic conditions.

Earlier this week seas fell to zero and if you didn’t know better, you would swear you were in the sound. It was like that for a day then back to breezy.

Small blues were fodder for predators and black bass (release and a few keepers) gave our crews plenty of light tackle time.

It is the aquarium time of year as mullet, small shark, calico and the like move South.

Netters continue to drape the shoulders of scattered beaches. It actually helps to see them out there as they work the bait marks. We are all working around each other and that is the way it should be.

lol it is about coming together and goofing off. The holidays have brought us customers throughout the last fifteen years this time of year. Big rock has shifted back again to albacores down south, puppy drum on the reef, wrecks  for light tackle bites, and small rock ( some keep & some release) All bites fishy.

I can remember when this time of year was Big Blues in the surf. With what we had last Spring, it will be interesting to see if they change pattern and return this time of year in the Novembers to come. Days end saw the better chance on some bites by end of week and I was proud of my anglers who hung in there!

Logan (the oldest) had fished me when he was …shorter than I was! Time has flown and with the twins in tow we managed to pull the rabbit out of the hat!

It never stopped my folks as they know we change it up base on weather conditions and wind. We go where the wind sends us and keep four rounds of tackle rigged for the change up! As I said before; normally we would fish on through. Black bass will close again (it is not open all year guys) shortly. Rockfish that had birds on them are moving.

We personally have tied up for the season (2017)  as we have quite a bit on our plate! We are sorry if we have missed you this week! Hard to believe but life is like that and you need to step up and make time away from any business to take care of your own.

I have already opened the books for 2018. If you are thinking all day or 3/4 then I would advise to get on the books for your preferred slot in your vacation.

thanks to those aboard as we greatly appreciate your time!

For those coming in, good luck! Enjoy the beach.
