It is that time of year! A few fronts, a few storms, a few bytes for the scroll. I promised the last round so NOTE: These are photos prior to 9/1/17 (today). I made you read that so that you would go to the end of this report for the current updates.
Never miss the opportunity to understand that although fishing is primary, the trip can involve just being a family. Or, if you would rather; friends on vacay!
The blues gave us a good showing last time around with doubles, singles, and some Good Spanish in the mix.
Once they get the gist, I can open the pit a bit and let you be. Love that. My younger anglers tend to learn quickly and sometimes the old chick is just keeping up!
I was still seeing some very young cobia making their way through and every once in a while a good one was casted on.
That flurry was a light switch but it kept us between trolling, bottom fishing for triggers when we could get the conditions, and taking only what we needed. All depended on time frame and activity!
Any trip can be work if the conditions don’t make it easy. I am proud of each person that fished me as they rose to the venues we had before us. Some of you sweated more than I did! Thank you! Half Days and 3/4 were on good runs for the buffet and I re-rigged, re-tied, an revisited it all during the week.
Best plan was to go fishing period. When ocean conditions didn’t play out this time around we were very upfront. Sometimes it makes a difference and sometimes it does not. It is definitely fishing folks.
My regulars show to go and we did. I did have some great big kids as I wrapped it up (they were….I tried to get them up earlier but to no avail. Didn’t matter. We were booked up. Also, that time around we got a great storm bite and the texts and pics were sent home prior to arriving back dockside. It was hilarious as I was told it was “Birthday Month.”
Wow, I need a Birthday Month…way beyond a day! lol
9/1/17: half days TODAY saw the muddied waters along the beaches. A challenge no doubt searching for bait, good water for the troll etc. A scattered bite Nearshore today on blues. Mainly close to home as it breezed up starting at ten. By 11am boat some had started checking the backside on troll in the channels.
All Days were headed to the towers if possible to amberjack or try their hand at big game troll. Off the beach reported swell and chop so you need to check with those boats as I did not have that report. All depending on what, how long, where, and were the fish even organized.
A new cold front is dropping in today. This should shove the tropics (we want that btw) and we shall see where the currents and the bite land post front.
To those who fished us thank you so much! Greatly appreciated!
To those we could not accommodate; we hated the weather as it just pounded out what we had been on-we hope to try it again another time with you all with good conditions. Going is great we just try to stack up what we can the farther we get to Fall. Sun does not mean no wind and no muck up. It does mean a pretty sunny trip. I had some specific clients so hence we opted out of the sound. Fish are going to be on the move!
We are booking actively post front into next week (9/4 onward). I would suggest getting on the books so we can watch the weather! It is in flux always this time of year!
