I promised to begin to round it up and here we go. It has been just that; a Cold Water Challenge! Last week we saw rain, wind, sweatshirts for a day (wtheck) and could not believe it was the month of June! Northern beaches kept their cold temps (65F in some areas) and we began to put our head down once we made it back ocean side to hunt for warmth.
Anyone that is familiar with our inlet is well versed in ” The Bar.” If you have never seen it from the apex of the bridge this is what is looks like when it doesn’t play nice.
Backside saw a few mullet, tons of perch, one or two blues and Spanish on the troll. You trolled, drifted-did it all.
Every crew that began back in the ocean late last week the Spanish turned on in numbers, the cobias just briefly showed around the inlet Sunday. Think basically we are looking for the next showing now.
By Monday back on the hunt yet again as all crews got a big slice of humble pie. Miles and miles of water with good temps and not a lot in it. Don’t think fishermen don’t communicate because we have all put in some distance and techniques. I had a change up in trips mid week (thanks for fishing us twice Charles & Irene) and as we pushed into today, we were back into the numbers. I have more reports coming but just know the patterns have changed daily as have my trips so fishing ; we have been offshore and nearshore-backside-oceanside-bottom and troll and live bait. We will catch you up in the next report! Thank you for those who have fished us faithfully. You are appreciated.
For those we were unable to accommodate; good luck to you and catch them up! We only speak for ourselves and our boat. That is our policy.
****Friday (tomorrow) . I will only do third trip if the weather is good and the fishing appears normal. Call us personally for that. When an afternoon is open-that is the next slot to be filled.
Saturday: open in the am. nothing in the pm.
Monday-am only. No pm. no third trip slot available
