I read a few quotes in regards to the month of June(reference to Jean Hersey above) and if June is the gateway to summer, we need to kick it in. I just now saw the date as days run into each other with the alarm clock waking us up. I told you as before; we have used a lot of techniques and covered the territory and are going to give you the next round of photos!
I have seen a lot of families of late. We do not always keep fish (I have some groups that are release only, some that keep a few, some that keep what they catch-it varies)Trolling one trip and bottom fishing the next has kept me on my toes.
My youngest anglers have done a terrific job and when you catch something they have never seen before there is always the caveat: “everything in salt water has teeth! Don’t lip it!”
Some you can eat, some can crush an oyster! Halloween colors come over the washboards some days. I was proud of them as it is a balancing act of patience, muscles, seeing what works for them personally. First timers and repeat customers have all been aboard.
The light tackle got a great work out this past run. Some days trolling and some days not; it was all relevant.
Family time can be precious with the activities people have now. Colleges, schools, jobs, work all melt to eat away at the minute hands.
Conditions varied from pretty, foggy, overcast, sunny, whitecaps, swell, hot & just warm. The Outer Banks to a T! All Day jaunts got us back to familiar grounds with a bit of competition on the hook ups. the Amberjack just recently showed (a bit later than normal) so as they begin to align you will see quite the fleet out and about.
Scores were there on jig prior to this day, but when you got the hook up it was line peeling, pole bending. There is no age limit on a good smile my friends.
And sleepy or not; one can always go in the box prior to catching up on some zzzz’s! Spanish turned on a day later nearshore and we hit those numbers on half. There was also a drop on that action forty eight hours after that particular run (hence the ups and downs)There have been one or two gaffers around but note this past forty eight swell action is shaking the water up (late Sat-Sun).
I have cancelled my charter for today as I was due to fish quite far. Swell kicked it up yesterday at lunch but I was with my regulars on half day inside-junior anglers for trout, flounder and the like. They are hilarious so more on that as we are enjoying Father’s Day ourselves today.
There are more photos to come so if you do not see it now , know that it is on the way! Conditions change day to day. Kick in the gate to June and lets go!
only openings this week so in the work week are:
Thurs pm, Fri pm. call beyond that for six hr, four person, all day, or just weekend slot as that is what is coming up first.
If fishing remains consistent I will be glad to consider third trip by Tuesday or Wednesday. Thanks to those who fished us this week ! We appreciate it.
